American Family Association Continues to Oppose Nomination of Judge Ozerden and Appreciates Sen. Ted Cruz Standing Up for Religious Freedom
TUPELO, Miss.—Several months ago, American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) announced its opposition to the nomination of Judge Halil Suleyman Ozerden to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.
Reports indicate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) will oppose the nomination of Ozerden, who is currently serving on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi.
Ozerden refused to protect Christians from being forced to follow the Obamacare contraceptive mandate. Ozerden also refused to hear the complaint of the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi, whose leaders said the contraceptive mandate violated their religious liberty and their deeply held religious belief in the sanctity of human life.
AFA appreciates Cruz’s strong leadership demanding the approval of only verifiably conservative judicial nominees. Washington needs more leaders like Ted Cruz.
